All But Forgotten Altar of God
Pastor James E. Banks

GREETINGS! In the wonderful name of Jesus, it's with much prayer, and seeking the face of my lovely lord that I, as a Scribe chosen by the God of my Fathers, do pen by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, this message on the All But Forgotten Altar of God!

Much of my writing is done by kneeling at the Altar of God. Many times, God speaks in my ear as I write the Oracles of God. Now in this great message that God has so graciously given me, I am in no way trying to put anyone back under the law. However, it is a shame that under the law, and under the blood of goats, and bulls, that God's Glory should be more Glorious and more Prevalent, than in the New Testament Church, under the Blood of The Lamb of God. Let us take a look at Leviticus chapters 8 & 9.

Now, to begin with, the Church of that day was not moving in God. God's Glory was not on them; the people began to compromise, and God's Glory lifted from the Tabernacle.  Now, when God began to speak to Moses, he did something about it.

And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them. And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all his vessels, both the laver and his foot, to sanctify them. And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.
Leviticus 8:10-12

Note this repeated sprinkling of the Altar seven times. This was for Perfection.  I think that, as a whole, this is exactly what needs to happen to the Church. Now, let's continue on in the Scriptures to Chapter 9.

Leviticus 9:1 And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
Leviticus 9:2 And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.

If you will notice - NO ONE was exempt; everyone had to be recognized in this sacrifice, for their compromising in God's House. There had to be a real repentance, for in the 3rd and 4th verse he said,

Leviticus 9:3 And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering;
Leviticus 9:4 Also a bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day the LORD will appear unto you.

PLEASE NOTE NOW - the last part of the 4th verse. "FOR TO DAY THE LORD WILL APPEAR UNTO YOU". Now you can really see how there needs to be a house cleaning so to speak, before God's Glory will come. For there, the whole congregation had to repent, and Moses had to reconsecrate the Tabernacle and anoint any who ministered, as well as all parts of the Tabernacle. All this had to be taken care of before God's Glory would appear. My God, no wonder God's Glory does not appear in the New Testament Church of today, no repentance for their compromise. Let's look at the 5th verse.

Leviticus 9:5 And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.

Now all the congregation has repented for their compromising, they all brought their best animals, the very choice animal, one without blemish, positively perfect, and offered for their sins. Now notice the 6th verse.

Leviticus 9:6 And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.

Now I would like to skip down to the 23rd and 24th verses to bring this portion of scripture to a climax.

Leviticus 9:23And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.

It appeared not to just 2 or 3 in the church, but to all the congregation.

Leviticus 9:24 And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

Oh, my God, is it not a pity that under the blood of goats and bulls, that God's Glory would be made manifest in such a Glorious display, to the entire congregation; while the New Testament Church thinks it has no more sins for which to be forgiven? They think that their compromising is not sin; playing with the world is not sin. They have time for ball games, but not time for Holy Ghost filled tarry services. And God does not appear with his display of Glory, and Jesus does not come to visit in His Father's House.

Page 1

I thank God that 19 years ago God spoke to me to go to the highway and build for Him a house. He told me to never put His House in bondage, so there never has been a debt. God's Glory would come down, and furnish me with what I needed. God spoke in an audible voice, and said, the rich man will never take glory for building my House, so the rich man never gave. This, I am sure, is no fault of the rich man, this was according to God's Will.
I was many years in the building of the Tabernacle and many rich men came to see the building but never left a dime. This again was no fault of theirs, I am sure God put it in their hearts not to give. However, God gave me a few of the poorest people that I have ever known. And God would Appear in His Glory and bless the little offering that we would receive, Sunday morning and Sunday night.
Oh Praise God, how he would bless and multiply our little offering even as He multiplied the fishes and the loaves and every need was always met. One morning at 2:30 A.M. God woke me and told me to get up and write. God said set up a standard for my people. I have never failed God in keeping a standard here at the Tabernacle of David, both inside the church and outside and God has opened the heavens to us.
All the buildings here have no blueprints. But God would appear in His Glory and speak to me. And on two occasions, God sent Angels to help me. Oh, my God, what has happend to the New Testament Church? The church of today knows nothing about God's Glory. They know all about compromising, without fear. But of God's Glory they are afraid. I tell you the congregation will have to repent for their compromise with the world, then sanctify themselves, and again sanctify the house of God. Then will God Appear in His Glory.

Now I have had many people tell me that all this Glory was under the Law, and now there is no need for this kind of a display, for we are under the dispensation of Grace. But I declare that if you have the Grace of our Lord, why does He not Appear, when he said he would? He has appeared to me, and He is no respecter of persons. Jesus wants to appear in your midst. He said he must bring many sons to Glory.
God said he wants you to be a Royal Diadem in his hand. He wants you to be a Crown of Glory. This Glory must come upon your head, a crown must be worn upon the head. The church should have the mind of Christ, and then this Glory would be upon your head. You would be sealed with the Glory of God. This is a must for the church of God in this last hour. Now one of the meanings of Zion is the true church of God.

Psalms 102:16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

Should not the New Testament Church of God be Zion?  Why does our Lord not appear in His Glory? The congregation will not repent for their compromise with sin!

Today they use a well worn excuse, Oh, my God does not convict me. I still feel God's presence, and some will say, I still speak in tongues. Well! I must say that if God does not convict me, as I endeavor to walk in the righteousness of Christ, then, one of two things have taken place in my life; I either have reached complete perfection, or I am in derision. Now, if I am even close to Perfection, the Lord will Appear in His Glory. But if I am in derision, I will not be convicted of any wrong as I compromise with the world. Please remember that if Jesus does not Appear in His Glory in the Church in this last hour something IS RADICALLY WRONG. Look how he appeared to Saul, and his appearing here was to have Saul set up the New Testament Church. Why? So that He could Appear in his Father's House. And that you could receive His Glory. Let's look at Acts 26:14-16.

Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Acts 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Acts 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

Now notice what Jesus said in the 16th verse - "But rise and stand upon thy feet, for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in which I will appear unto thee". Now, here Jesus is telling Paul that even though he has Appeared unto him in this spectacular way, that it would not be the last time that he would appear.
Jesus cannot appear without bringing His Glory. This takes place in the church. Now this shows us how important it is for Jesus to bring many sons to Glory. It certainly is the Perfect Will of God to Appear in his Church. Jesus told Paul at his first appearing, that this would not be the last of His Appearing.
Now I would like to go again back to the Old Testament, before there was a law. In fact - 430 years before there was a law. Now I am by the help of God and by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost going to show you that there must be true repentance in the hearts of those who have been predestinated by the foreknowledge of God. Abram was one selected by God to witness His Appearing and His Glory.
Now this Glory was to be seen by those whom God had selected. This Glory came before there was a law or a church, and now should be seen in a greater way, as the climax of Perfection comes to the New Testament Church, where Jesus said you have not seen the last of my Appearing. Let's go to Gen. 12:7-8

Genesis 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
Genesis 12:8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

Now an Altar is for repentance, for the sacrifice of your sins, and to worship God. Now when God told Abram what he wanted to do for him, Abram was so humble, and as he looked at his unfinished, and earthen condition, here he was a man of flesh, talking to the God of Heaven who miraculously Appeared unto him, Abram knew that there was only one thing that he could do and that was to build an Altar and repent. He was standing in the presence of God.
After sacrificing and praying to the God of Heaven, he moved to another area. Let's read verse 8, "and he removed from thence unto a mountain, on the East of Bethel, and pitched his tent having Bethel on the West, and Ha'-I on the East." Now, one would think that Abram would be very busy since he just moved to this new location. But before he did anything, the 8th verse continues ... "and there he builded an Altar unto the Lord, and called upon the Name of the Lord." Abram was not taking any chances, he did not want to spend a day without an Altar. Abram did not have a church or a congregation, but he had an ALTAR, he had a place of repentance, and a place to worship God.
Could this be what is wrong with the New Testament Church? Many have done away with their Altars, and Jesus does not appear in the churches as he said he would. They may have a shout, they may have a Praise, and they may have a dance, but JESUS does not APPEAR IN HIS GLORY as he said he would.

Page 2

I thank God, that God spoke to me, and Jesus Appeared to me. And in the Upper Room of the Fountain of Life Tabernacle, which is Spiritually known as THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID; we have 26-12 feet long by 2 feet wide beautiful Altars covered with royal purple velvet. In the 4 square room where the Elder board will meet, there is an Altar. Here the Elder board must kneel , in prayer, prior to a board meeting, until the Holy Ghost falls, then, and then only, will we have a board meeting. If the Holy Ghost does not fall, the meeting is cancelled, and we will return as many times as necessary, until the Holy Ghost falls.
In the Sanctuary of God's House, we have 2 long, white marble Altars, making a total of 29 Altars in God's House. Now the Lord appeared to Abram, and he built many Altars. The Lord Appeared to me, and I built the House of God, and then I built in His House many Altars. God's Glory followed Abram, and God's Glory will follow anyone today that will build Altars and use them, often. Jesus said he would Appear in the Church. Let's get back to the Glory of the Altar, for God's Glory will not appear without an Altar. Now there is no use saying one thing, and meaning another. The Appearance of the Lord, or the Glory of the Lord will change any man, or any Church. Abram heard the Voice of the Lord telling him to leave his father's house and to leave the country. He was obedient, and left his father's house, but he did not repent or have a real ALTAR EXPERIENCE until the Lord Appeared unto him. From then on he builded an Altar where ever he was, and worshipped the Lord. I tell you the Appearing of the Lord will CHANGE YOUR CHURCH. It has changed mine, for remember, Jesus said that he WOULD APPEAR AGAIN.
Now this was not the end of the Lord Appearing to Abram. Let's read Gen. 17 verses 1 through 5.

Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Now I want you to notice that God did not just speak to Abram, but again he Appeared and Spoke to Abram. Now the first time that God Appeared to Abram, he built an Altar. An Altar is for the sacrifice of your sins. Now that Abram is used to an Altar experience, he has access to the Altar at all times. Now if you will notice this does not stop God from Appearing to Abram just because he has an Altar experience, but rather, this compels God to appear more. You see, the first Appearing of God to Abram, God did not take him into any depth. God just spoke to him about natural things; he talked to Abram about real estate, giving him land for an inheritance. This touched Abram to such an extent, that he began to build Altars and repent.
This, in turn, prompted God to Appear more to this man, whom he had not taken into any depth, but just blessed him with the natural. Now this Appearing is different than the first Appearing. God spoke to Abram many times, but did not Appear to him. A number of years have gone by, Abram is older - perhaps about 24 years older - but his Altar experience has again prompted God to Appear. This time He is 90 and 9 years old, and God is not Appearing this time to tell Abram that he is going to bless him in the natural.
OH! PRAISE GOD! God's Appearing this time is not to wade in ankle-deep water, but this Appearing is to take Abram into the depth of God's Glory. For suddenly, he said to Abram, "I am the Almighty God." This got Abram's attention like never before. Abram was speechless. Then God shattered the silence with these Earth-Shaking Words ... "Walk Before Me, and Be Thou Perfect." God never had spoken to Abram in this manner before, and God could never have spoken these earth-shaking words to a man that was not accustomed to an Altar experience.
It seems now as though Abram has come far enough since the First Appearing, for God to Appear this time to take him into the depth of God's Glory. Oh, my God would this not be a shaking experience today for God to speak in the New Testament Church and say, Walk Before Me, and Be Thou Perfect. My God, the church of today does not believe that a man can walk perfect before God.
Almost without exception, ministers tell me that in the day in which we live no man can be Perfect. But here was a man that did not have the Glory of God's House, did not have the Blood of Jesus on his Altar, did not have the Holy Ghost, and yet God Appeared to him, and thundered "Walk Before Me and Be Thou Perfect." My God, Church, get back to the ALTAR, repent often, and Walk Before God, and God's Glory will Appear in your Church. Go back to the standards of God, forsake the World, and God's Glory will come upon you.
Let's read the 2nd verse, God told Abram to be Perfect. Now after telling Abram to be Perfect, he then continued,

Genesis 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

Now here comes a tremendous promise - God said Walk Before Me and Be Thou Perfect, and I will make my Covenant between me and thee. Then he continued ... and will multiply thee exceedingly. Now as great as Abram was, he only received a token of the Covenant, but if we walk in Perfection we will receive the fullness of the Covenant, and the Covenant cannot be disannuled. The Covenant is everlasting. One scripture claims that the Covenant is to a thousand generations. Now it's easy to see why the true Covenant has not been established in the New Testament Church. They do not walk in Perfection, neither do most churches believe you can be Perfect. However, God told Abram "Walk Perfect, and I will make my Covenant between me and thee." This was 430 years before there was a law, showing that God will only make his Covenant with those who will Walk Perfect.
In Verse 3, after Abram standing in the presence of God, heard the depth that God wanted to take him in, and Abram fell on his face; God talked with him saying,

Genesis 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

Now you talk about the depth that God is taking Abram into - a number of years before this Appearing, God told Abram to leave his father's house. He left the country of Ur. Ur was - situated in the Persian Gulf in the time of Abram. They were a family of Idol-makers, and Idol- worshippers; however, God saw something in Abram that he did not see in anyone else in that area.
Now God is not taking Abram to a kindergarten class. He is telling this man by the name of Abram, whom he is Appearing to; "to walk Perfect before Him, and he will make his Covenant between him and Abram." Then he capped it all by saying to this man from a Idol-Making linage, that he was going to make him a Father of many nations. Thank God that's where Abram became our Father in the flesh. And it's from the meetings that Abram had first on the Altars, then with the Appearing of the Lord, that gave us our opportunity of coming into the fullness of the everlasting Covenant.
Now these tremendous meetings that Abram had with God changed him completely, for in the 5th verse God said ...

Genesis 17:5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

Page 3

Now, don't you know this took the Glory of God. Here is this man from the country of Ur, and now he becomes the Father of an Irishman, an Englishman, and American, a German, and the everlasting Covenant made with Abraham is passed on to us, and brought to its fullness in the New Testament Church. HOW?? By the Altar experience that Abram had with just one visit from God.
Oh, Praise God! Put the Altar Experience Back in The Church. The Altar is not just to get saved - you worship God at the Altar, and God will Appear in His Glory. These are things accomplished at the Altar that cannot be accomplished in any other place, or in any other way. Now, I would like to go on into the study of the Appearing of the Lord.

Let's turn to Gen. 26, Verses 24 & 25. It seems that Abraham trained his promised son Isaac in the Altar experience. And seemingly Isaac was very familiar with the Altar, but he was not familiar with the Appearing of the Lord as his father Abraham was, for when the Lord Appeared to Isaac, he said "fear not." Let's read verse 24, ...

Genesis 26:24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.

He was introducing himself to Isaac, who evidently had never seen God as his father Abraham had. No doubt Isaac was afraid for the Lord continues, ... "fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake."
Now if you will notice the ALTAR training that Abraham gave his son Isaac proved fruitful, for now God is not just speaking to Isaac, but he is Appearing to Isaac, and telling him to his face that he is going to bless him. This is what an Altar Experience can do. My greatest contact with God is at an Altar. I have spent as much as 8 hours at an Altar on my knees, writing one message, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. The Lord has Appeared many times here at the Tabernacle, and while his Glory was upon me, I have witnessed God Creating pure gold, which was used in overlaying the sacred desks.
Oh, why does the New Testament Church, not have the Altar experience that will bring the Appearing of our Precious Lord. Jesus said he would Appear again. My God, I have ordered materials from all over the world to be used in God's house, without money to pay for it. Most of it came C.O.D. Do you know how I paid for it? On my knees at the Altar. Remember the 24th verse that I just read, "The Lord Appeared to Isaac, and he said I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed, for my servant Abraham's sake." Abraham is my father in the flesh, and through Abraham's Altar experience, I came on to a greater experience, and the fullness of the everlasting Covenant. I am of the seed of Abraham, and I continually have an Altar.
The 25th verse shows the reaction of Isaac to the Lord's Appearing, and speaking to him, for the Word said,

Genesis 26:25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.

Oh, Praise God! I tell you an Altar will cause you to dig a well in a desert, and hit a glorious flow of water. If YOUR Altar experience is right, God's presence will be there. The Altar is what brought the Appearing of the Lord before there was a law of Moses. This was all accomplished under the blood of goats and bulls.
Now, how much greater should the Appearing of our Lord be under the blood of the Lamb of God? Everytime we sincerely kneel at the Altar, Jesus is our sacrificial Lamb. He had no blemish, he is PERFECT, he is the only begotten Son of God. Oh, how great is the forgotten Altar of God! Everytime I have a problem, I go straight to the Altar. When my strength is gone I go straight to the Altar. While building God's House, and a problem in the construction would arise, I shut everything down, and shut myself in at the Altar. When God's Glory Would Appear, and God would speak to me, giving me the answers, then the work would go on.
Oh, My God, how great is your Altar experience? I would like to relate here in my message what it has meant to me to have and be familiar with an ALTAR EXPERIENCE. One day I was kneeling at the Altar in our little Chapel; the Lord Appeared in His Glory, he spoke to me in an audible voice, and said ... "overlay the 12 pillars in my House with pure gold; overlay the 3 sacred desks, the Holy Place and the chair reserved for the presence of the Lord, the latter is in the Elder Board Room."
I had no money to buy gold, but I was very familiar with an Altar experience, and after many years of contacting God at the Altar, I was very familiar with God speaking the impossible to me, and commanding me to be obedient. Now God still speaking in my ear, declared unto me, that for every ounce of gold that I would buy by faith, that he, God, would create for me more. By faith I ordered a shipment of gold, it would take too long to tell what we had to go through with to order this shipment of bullion. I was told by this precious metals company that the gold would be sent in an unmarked manner by Special Courier, when it arrived, God had blessed me with the money to pay for it. This was all done in secret as I could not let it be known that pure gold was in the Tabernacle, until after it was overlaid in the House of God.
Oh, how great is your Altar Experience? When the time came for me to overlay the milk white quartz and crystal, I had the gold mine and smeltering company that provided the gold, to grind the bullion in 365 mesh powder. This I mixed in clear fast setting resin. Now, to begin with I laid the entire shipment of gold, all ground, in I ounce viles on the Altar. Then I bowed on my knees, and the Glory of God Appeared. The Holy Ghost picked me up off my knees, and suspended me in mid-air. I have no idea how long I was weeping uncontrolably, and when the Glory of God set me back on my knees, I began to think how small and insignificant I was to face such a task that I knew nothing of.
Believe me, I then relied on my Altar experience, and as I began by faith to mix the gold with the resin, I called on the God of my father's Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and in the Name of Jesus Christ the Son of God, strength and wisdom came as I began to mix on my knees at the Altar. Since I knew nothing about such spectacular work, I decided after weighing the resin to mix or stir the 1 ounce of gold in 3 portions. I was afraid that if I poured the full ounce in the resin at once it might cake before I could get it mixed and applied. I mixed very rapidly the 3rd of the ounce and it mixed well. I put in about another third and it mixed well. I poured in the remainder of the ounce, mixing as rapidly as I could, for I had approximately 5 minutes to mix and apply before it was set. Now as I set the empty vile down to my amazement, it was full. God was creating gold before my eyes on the Altar. God had told me while kneeling at the Altar in the little chapel, that for every ounce of gold that I would order by faith, that he would create more. Here God was performing the impossible as again I knelt at the Altar.
Now after this, I mixed 17 times - each of the 17 times God again filled the same vile, then it was empty. I then, still mixing at the Altar on my knees, started to mix from another vile, the same thing happened 17 different times - God filled the same vile; then it was empty. This went on for days, and I did not work less than 16 hours a day. Every mix I mixed was on my knees at the Altar. This continued until the area that God called the Holy Place was completely overlaid with pure gold. Remember this is not like the Holy Place that was in the temple. This has nothing to do with the law of Moses. This has to do with bringing forth the Holy Oracles of God in the New Testament Church.

Page 4

Now, by faith, I ordered a total of 3 shipments of gold. I covered both sacred desks in God's Sanctuary, then started on the pillars, after overlaying one pillar and this was still on the first shipment of gold. The gold was nearly gone, but I saw how God had created the gold as I mixed at the Altar, and I, for some unknown reason after finishing one pillar, started to figure in my head as to how much gold I would have to order to overlay 12 pillars as they were all one size.
The way God had been creating for several days the gold, I was sure I had enough for the second pillar. Then 1 would know how much to order. I started the second pillar and to my amazement the Gold ran out and I only had about 16 inches of the 12 foot pillar overlaid. My God, how I cried before God, I said, "Oh, my God, I am not worthy to build your house." I told God, on my knees at the Altar, that I had failed him. I thought my heart would break, and then I looked and the last empty vile was full again. This time I mixed 26 times before the vile was empty. Please take a lesson from me, don't ever try to reason out what God must do.

Oh, how great is your Altar experience? My God, please put back the Altar in your churches. If you have an Altar, use it often. Under the blood of goats and bulls, God appeared. Oh, God, how much greater should the Appearing be in the New Testament Church, when the Lamb of God was the supreme sacrifice. My God everyone come around the Altar - if there is not room, make you another Altar. If you are driving in your car, or flying by plane, make an Altar in your heart. May God speak to this world who has forgotten the Altar of God!

May God Richly Bless You,
Rev. James E. Banks
